Sun Messe Nichinan
Sun Messe Nichinan is home to seven reproductions of Easter Island Moai statues. It is the only place in the world that has been allowed to restore and display these statues.
Permission to restore the Moai statues was granted as a display of gratitude for equipment and financial aid by a Japanese crane company after a large earthquake and tribal conflicts ravaged Easter Island.
The enormous Moai statues, standing 5.5 meters tall and weighing 18 tons, stand in a line with their backs to the beautiful blue ocean.
It is said that the third statue from the left grants luck with love, and the sixth grants lucky with money.
Sun Messe Nichinan has a total area of 20 hectares, so in that vast space there are a variety of other attractions, such as an observation deck, gardens, an insect museum, children’s playground equipment, restaurants, and shops.
The restaurants feature not only classic Japanese menus, but seasonal menus and indoor barbecue as well.
