Enjoy Asian Sweets at an Ocean-view café in Okinawa; “Café Curcuma”
Visited Asian Herb restaurant Café Curcuma located in the southern part of Okinawa!
This is a restaurant that offers authentic Thai dishes, and in fact, it is certified as one of “Thai Select” restaurants by the Thai Ministry of Commerce.
In this trip, I visited to the café to enjoy their delicious sweets and breathtaking ocean view.
※Japanese name:カフェ くるくま。
From even its entrance, you can tell that there is something unique about the Café Curcuma.
Once inside, there were meteorites and dinosaurs bones (seemed like replicas) on display. Not sure why they were there but definitely an interesting place.
He is a man of unique character too.
Inside the restaurant, it smelt so good with spices filling the air.
It was too bad that I could not take any pictures inside since the place was too crowded.
We headed straight to the long-admired terrace seats since our purpose was to try their desserts.
(Please remember that the terrace seats are only available for those ordering desserts but not meals!)
Nothing but an ocean in front of eyes. Such a stunning view.
Since the restaurant is built on a hill, you can overlook the vast ocean.
Like shown in the picture, there is a long terrace table outside.
Yes, it’s Sweets Time!
Among some options for dessert on the menu, I chose their signature “Curcuma Zenzai (Japanese sweet with bean-and-mochi resembling porridge) and my friend ordered a piece of Lemon Yogurt cake.
Asian Sweet with colorful mochi and tapioca in coconut milk.
These mochi are made with ingredients such as turmeric, seasonal herbs and hibiscus and that’s why they are so colorful.
A great combination of chewy mochi and scent of coconut milk. Simply yummy.
I bet the great scenery makes this dish 30% more delightful!
For a drink, I chose passion fruit juice that had slightly unique color.
Refreshingly sour and delicious.
I also tried a little bit of my friend’s cake, which actually smelt really nice with the refreshing sourness of lemon and rich and creamy yogurt. Of course, it was delicious with light aftertaste.
Though the restaurant was fairly busy, most of the customers stayed inside enjoying their Thai dishes. So, to my surprise, there were many seats available on the terrace and we were able to spend a good quality time there.
Looking at the spectacular scenery in front of my eyes, I almost got this sudden urge that I wanted to stay there forever.
