For Ramen Full of Nira, Head for Osaka's Ten-Ten, Yu

There is a ramen restaurant I have loved for a long time.
Named Ten-Ten, Yu, it's a sister shop to Kyoto's famous flagship, Ten-Ten-Yu.
A lot of regular customers seem to come to this ramen shop every day to enjoy the free Nira Kimchi, a spicy Korean pickled cabbage with Chinese chives (Nira in Japanese).

The retro exterior harkens back to a previous era.
Although I came on a weekday, right after the shop opened, I couldn't get in. I was the third in line outside. At this restaurant, long lines outside are the norm.

The menu

The menu is sticky from so many years of oil flying on it!
A regular-sized bowl of ramen is ¥600, and a large bowl is ¥650!
Such low prices have become quite rare recently.

Here is the free Nira Kimchi.
The garlic is very effective, and with just the right amount of spice, I can't stop eating it! Gyoza potstickers are the best thing to eat with it!

A lot of people order it with rice, so the bowl is a little small.
The ingredients are: Char Sui pork, Menma (boiled fermented bamboo shoots), bean sprouts and Welsh onion.
I'm happy to see 3 slices of Char Sui on the ramen!
Made with a chicken-bone base, the soup has a flavor that everyone can enjoy.

The noodles

The noodles are straight and medium-thin.
The nice flavor of flour goes well with the soup!

Even a small bowl of rice comes with such a large portion!

It's so good that your chopsticks will never stop moving!

The ramen is delicious as is, but it's even better when you add Nira to it!
It changes the ramen from a gently flavored dish to one that packs a punch!

This Nira is so delicious, it magically goes with everything!
I'd like to apologize to the shopkeeper for eating too much Nira every time I visit!

After I was completely satisfied, I left the restaurant. There were 20 people lined up outside. If you don't want to line up, I recommend avoiding lunchtime and visiting this ramen shop at night.
