Luxury Dim Sum Restaurant in Tokyo’s Marunouchi, “YAUMAY”
A new commercial facility in Marunouchi, “Nijyubashi Square,” opened in November of 2018. “YAUMAY,” located on the building’s 2nd floor, is a unique dim sum restaurant led by state-of-the-art chef Alan Yau. I stopped by for lunch, so in this article I will be introducing this restaurant.
Supposedly its team was put together from famous London restaurant “HAKKASAN” and “Yauatcha,” which has locations across the world.
Inside of the restaurant is clean and calm, reminiscent of a high-class French restaurant.
Menu
Both daytime and nighttime services utilize the same menu, which features 27 items, including dim sum.
I decided to order primarily off of their recommended items menu, marked with blue checks.
Dishes
Siu Mai (800 yen)
The siu mai featured impressively big shrimp. They had a pleasant mouthfeel and were very juicy.
Curry Cuttlefish (1,000 yen)
This dish was seasoned fairly heavily. The cuttlefish was fresh and delicious, and the more you chew it the tastier it gets.
Venison Puff (1,500 yen)
This venison puff was a variety of dim sum. This dish has received rave reviews even from Michelin at the London restaurant.
The venison was surrounded by crispy puff pastry.
Inside was tender venison. There was no gamey odor to it, and it was quite delicious.
Custard Bun (700 yen)
This was my dessert. It looked similar to chuukaman, a Chinese steamed bun. Inside was packed with custard cream.
Tea
I had Dragon Peal white jasmine tea.
Everything that I ordered this visit was incredibly delicious, and you could really tell that the chef was on another level. However, the price was also high to match the quality. If you prefer a more casual atmosphere, I recommend visiting TIM HO WAN (添好運).
