Kabuki, a classical performing art inheriting 400 years of tradition.
Kyoto Shijō Minamiza, said to be the oldest theatre in Japan, began operating as one of the seven theatres certified by the Tokugawa Shogunate in Shijō, which flourished as a town of plays in the early Edo period. To this day, many Kabuki actors continue to put on splendid performances on this stage.
Minamiza, which can be seen immediately as you come out of the Gion-shijo Station, is a well-known landmark in the town.

I enjoyed how it was presented! Many stories occured at the same time so there was always something to look at. The staff were extremely helpful in explaining things before the show and we had fun discussing our favourite characters!
The “live-action anime” character of it was lovely, the romantic nature of the fireman was fun, and the singing of the “white angel” was lovely.
Truly amazing. The choreography, costumes, set, music etc were fantastic. It was my first time seeing a play like this in Japan and the bar has been set extremely high.
