Run by the Katsushika Tourist Association, Shibamata Tourist Information Center is located just a minute away on foot from Keisei Kanamachi Line’s Shibamata Station, heading towards Taishakuten. We recommend visiting here upon arrival in Shibamata.
Obtain various tourist pamphlets and receive information about Shibamata’s tourist attractions, in order to get a good grasp of its whereabouts and plan a route. The staff are all friendly, and there is always an English-speaking interpreter on hand to help.
Despite its small size, the center sells plenty of souvenirs. The selection ranges from goods based on the theme of Shibamata’s icon, Tora-san of “The Otoko wa tsurai yo (It’s Tough Being a Man)”, to traditional Japanese handicrafts such as the “Edo Kiriko” glass made locally in Katsushika City.

I visited Shibamata on a solo trip, mainly to take a photo with the Tora-san statue. The information center is pretty small, and I was worried about the language barrier, but luckily, the staff spoke English and were super friendly. Thanks to their help, I was able to accomplish my goal for this trip. Really grateful! 🙏

The Shibamata Tourist Information Center is super close to the station, and the Tora-san statue at the entrance is adorable. There are tons of brochures you can take, plus a huge selection of local goods and souvenirs. I planned to buy some on my way back since I had a lot of walking to do, but I ended up forgetting. I’ll definitely stop by again next time.
