Okutone Winery
Modeled after Napa Valley in California, USA! A boutique winery in the Okutone area of Gunma Prefecture.
Founded in 1991 in Numata, Gunma. This boutique winery began producing wines in 2000 in the Akagi Plateau of Showa-mura, after finding the ideal place for cool climate conditions. From start to finish, this winery handles the cultivating of grapes from the majestic vineyards across Akagi Plateau, as well as the full fermenting/aging process. Set against a gorgeous mountain backdrop you’ll find a view of hedges and sprawling vineyards. The wines are bursting with a supple flavor that tastes as gorgeous as the landscape itself. At the winery you’ll also find an onsite restaurant where you can enjoy dishes paired with the original wines.
You can even find “Winemaker Tours”, exclusive tours led by one of the onsite winemakers that includes a tour of the vineyards, distillery and special tasting. There are 6 different European varieties (Cabernet, Sauvignon and Merlot, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Zinfandel and Schönburger) available for tasting.
If you’re searching for a free-spirited, wide open range of wines with plenty of California, Napa Valley vibes, you won’t want to miss a chance to sample the wines from Okutone Winery.
