This longstanding department store is a landmark of the Osaka/Namba area. It was revamped and opened in March 2011 with an all new line up of beloved stores and brands.
On each of its 6 floors you’ll find a colorful splash of stores from high-end and ladies fashion brands to lifestyle and specialty items galore. The first floor is home to one of the largest make-up floors in the entire Kansai region with over 80 different brands for you to browse. The food and grocery “depa-chika” basement floor includes a ready-to-go prepared foods section, famous Osaka-born Japanese confectioneries, souvenir shops and popular sweets. From floors 7-9 you’ll find over 30 popular restaurants and eateries at the Nanba Dining Maison, including Japanese, Western, and Chinese cuisine. We recommend swinging by for a bite and break from your shopping. At the 7th floor entrance lobby you may even notice the mural painting “Dance” by Taro Okamoto waiting to welcome you.
Just steps away in the Nipponbashi area you’ll also find the Takashimaya East Building. This retro, Showa-esque building was registered in 2019 as a Tangible Cultural Property. Inside you’ll find the Citadines Namba Osaka hotel, 11 different shops to try in the food hall, as well as art exhibits and a lookback into the history of the department store at the Takashimaya Archives.
