Kakamigahara City has long been active in producing air crafts, where Japan’s only full-scale aviation and space museum is located. It is nicknamed Sorahaku.

On the vast 9,400m² premises, Japan’s biggest 43 craft collection - real 34 planes and 9 life-size models - are on display.

In the aviation area, the only remaining Ki-61 Hien that was produced in Kakamigahara, biplanes, and jets are proudly laid out in chronological order. The passenger craft / small jet simulator is everyone’s favorite.

The space area shows the history of space exploration through displays and hands-on equipment. A full-scale model of the Japanese Experiment Module, Kibo, at the International Space Station (ISS) is a realistic recreation into the interior details. Spacesuits and the full-scale model of the asteroid explorer, Hayabusa 2, are intriguing.

There is a theater where you can watch the dynamic story about aviation and space. Be sure to check out Space Museum Cafe with the original menu and Museum Shop offering goods limited to the Space Museum.
