Omoide Romankan is peacefully located amid the nature of Okukujki, where you can enjoy visiting one of Japan's three most famous waterfalls, Fukuroda Falls, in just a 3-minute drive. In addition to the falls, the neighborhood offers other interesting sightseeing spots, such as the National Hitachi Seaside Park, Mount Tsukuba and Mount Yamizo, which are ideal for hiking, as well as the Kairakuen Garden known for its ume plum blossoms.
After your sightseeing, it’s the time to enjoy their proud natural hot spring and unwind both body and mind. The water source is Fukuroda Onsen, a famous hot spring that dates back to the Heian period (794-1192). Get in the alkaline spring water bath where untreated hot water flows directly in and is kept at a temperature of 40.2 °C which can be a bit lower compared to other hot springs. There are two facilities for bathing; an open-air bath in wild nature with a mountain stream running through close by, and a large bathhouse with a garden style open-air bath.
The peaceful guestrooms, aided by the river’s calming sound, are prepared in a variety of styles. Some have a private outside bath or a western style antique room with classical furniture; other rooms offer close on views of the mountains making you feel you’re staying in the deep forest. Both breakfast and dinner serve selected dishes derived from mountain and sea delicacies offering “a treasure trove of foods from Ibaraki Prefecture” The menu features brand-name ingredients, too, such as Hitachi beef, Okukuji gamecock, and abalone, as well as other special delights, such as fresh yuba and konnyaku.
