The former Iga Ninja House, which opened in 1964. is now the Ninja Museum of Igaryu. And in addition to the Ninja House, it also houses a collection of old ninja and ninjutsu-related documents from all over Japan, as well as a experience hall and a traditions hall.
The "Karakuri Ninja House" appears to be an ordinary farmhouse on the outside, but on the inside, there are many secret tricks, such as secret rotating doors, hidden staircases, and trapdoors to protect the secret recipe of gunpowder and ninjutsu. The main activities are hiding from enemies, watching them, and escaping, though they are thought to fight mainly with tricks.
Visitors to the "Ninjutsu Experience Hall" can see ninja-related replicas based on ninjutsu manuals and actual ninja tools such as shurikens, Mizugumo (water spiders), and makibishis (caltrops). The "Ninja Traditions Hall" reveals the secrets of ninjas, who were masters of disguise, as well as their wise and ingenious way of life. In addition, there is a "Ninja Mandala" depicting the gods and Buddha that the Iga and Koga ninja worshiped.
At the "Ninjutsu Show" by the Iga Ninja Special Unit "Ashura," visitors can learn how they used real weapons and tools to defend themselves and fulfill their roles, through dynamic demonstrations and explanations. Visitors can also try their hand at throwing real shurikens.
