Aoyama Historical Village (Aoyama Rekishi Mura)
A history village about Tamba-Sasayama’s history, culture and Dekansho Bushi song.
The Aoyama Family ruled Sasayama Domain for six generations from the mid-Edo Period through the Meiji Revolution and returned the land and people to the emperor, after which they built Keiensha villa. This tour facility shows the villa and the history of the domain.
The storehouse is turned into a display room about Sasayama Domain's reprinting. Classical Chinese books’ printing blocks, the illustration in the petition for the repair of Sasayama Castle’s stone walls submitted to the shogunate, and more of the City’s cultural properties are shown.
Nagayamon Gate used as an entrance originally belonged to Sasayama Domain’s Sawai Family, which was transferred here. On the premises, a stone safe is on display that Sasayama Domain was using, which is also the City’s cultural property.
Tamba-Sasayama Dekansho Hall stands nearby. Dekansho Bushi is a long-time summer festival song passed on in Tamba-Sasayama. You can have hands-on experience at the Virtual Dekansho Dance Booth and the Theater Room.
