The wooden 4-story Saigetsuro standing at the center and the grand room are still used since the beginning in 1936. Shrine carpenters created the sublime architecture, yet there are playful designs all over the building, making you feel like you are back in the Showa Period.
There are 29 rooms, all in traditional Japanese style. A guest room with the coved ceiling and flower-shape windows, a room with intricate sliding doors, one designed after a wealthy farmer’s home - each room is in a unique arrangement depending on the trend during the construction. You cannot reserve a particular room, but choose from three types - Tokushitsu (a special traditional room built by shrine carpenters), Yuttari Japanese room (remodeled later), etc.
Their source spring is 100% pure, flowing freely all the time. They have four source springs and eight bathrooms with different hot water qualities and designs. Meals are served in a party Kaiseki style with local chickens, Shinshu salmon, mushrooms, and other healthy ingredients.
