Grill Kodakara

The best omelet rice with a rich "dobi sauce" that is the key to its flavor!

Last update :

Established in 1961, this long-established Western-style restaurant has been a local favorite for over 60 years. Its signature dish is a traditional omelet rice with ketchup rice wrapped in a thinly fried egg and topped with a brown demi-glace sauce. It is so popular that many tourists come to Kyoto to try it.

The key to its delicious taste is a secret demi-glace sauce called "Dobi Sauce”. Beef tendon, onions, and carrots are added to bouillon and simmered slowly over low heat over a period of 18 days, with tomato ketchup and other ingredients added along the way. The rich and thick sauce goes well with the thin but fluffy eggs, onions, beef, pork, and other ingredients in the ketchup rice, and once you try it, you will be hooked! The dobi sauce can be doubled for an additional charge, so if you're hooked, you're in for a treat.

The restaurant also offers a variety of other Western-style dishes such as hashed rice, crab cream croquettes, fried shrimp, and more. Keep visiting to enjoy a variety of tastes.
