Chidoriya Souke "Mitarashi Komochi"

Chidoriya Souke, a long-established wagashi (Japanese sweets) shop with a history of nearly 390 years, has many stores across department stores and shopping malls in the Kinki region, including Osaka. Known for its signature confection "Honchidori Manju," the shop offers a wide variety of sweets, and in recent years, it has expanded into Western-style confections with hits like the "Premium Tirolian" roll cookies.

The highly recommended "Mitarashi Komochi" was created over 30 years ago. This product preserves the essence of the classic mitarashi dango but is made to be more convenient and easier to eat. The sweet and savory sauce is wrapped in chewy mochi made from domestically milled rice flour, ground with a stone mill. These bite-sized treats are perfect for grabbing and enjoying in one mouthful. The contrast between the chewy outer layer and the gooey center creates a harmonious taste that is hard to resist, making it an ideal souvenir for someone special.
