Sasayuri-Ann Zao
Located in a mountain village, this 200-year-old Kominka-house with a thatched roof offers a comfortable stay.
Located in Uda City, Nara Prefecture, on the border with Mie Prefecture, and a beautiful mountain village selected as one of the "100 Best Villages in Japan," "Sayuri Ann Zao" is an inn that is open only to one couple per day. The building, a 200-year-old Kominka-house with a thatched roof and a Kura (warehouse), was restored over about a year and retained the atmosphere of a good old Japanese house.
From the inn's elevated location, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the terraced rice paddies in the mountain village and the Muroakame Aoyama Kokutei Koen Park. Gazing at the beautiful scenery that changes with the seasons and the time of day, you will feel as if you have entered an original Japanese landscape. Lose yourself in the slow pace of time and experience the slow life of the countryside.
The most distinctive feature of the main house is the Irori-sunken hearth on a large wooden floor. The sound of crackling coals and flickering red flames will soothe you when you start a fire, and you will lose track of time as you listen to it. The experience of dining around an Irori-sunken hearth is unique and cannot be found in other hotels or inns. The bathroom area is equipped with Japanese cypress bathtubs and Washlet (Japanese cleansing toilet seats ). Three bedrooms are equipped with beds. Families can also enjoy their own private area.
