A&W Naha Kanagusuku Store

The first Okinawa restaurant was opened in 1963, before Okinawa was returned to Japan, and today there are more than 20 fast food restaurants in Okinawa Prefecture, all originating from the United States.

The retro storefront reminiscent of an American diner is the charm of A&W, and the same is true here at Naha Kanagusuku Store. The pop-colored counter, window seats and box seats along the curved wall, and other features allow diners to fully immerse themselves in the American atmosphere. The menu is truly American, from hearty hamburgers to sandwiches and sundaes.

A must-try when you come to A&W is root beer, a non-alcoholic drink made from more than 14 kinds of herbs. The more you drink it, the more addicted you become to its unique flavor, and there are many repeat customers. Incidentally, root beer refills are free of charge at all stores every day. Original goods sold in the store, such as caps and T-shirts with the popular "A&W" logo, are recommended as souvenirs.
