Plaza House Shopping Center

The first shopping center in Japan.

Last update :

Japan's first shopping center, located about a 6-minute drive from Koza Gate Street.
It was established in 1954, before Okinawa's reversion to mainland Japan, to meet the needs of U.S. soldiers stationed in Japan and their families. The three-story atrium connected to a one-story corridor reminiscent of mid-century architecture still exudes an exotic atmosphere, and the lush greenery makes for a pleasant stroll.

The area is lined with unique specialty stores, including a food market where visitors can enjoy gourmet foods from around the world and Japanese food culture, a coffee shop that is very popular among local customers, cafes and bakeries, interior design stores with products from Asia and Africa, and stores selling Okinawa's handicrafts. Among them, “Roger's”, a select store that imports more than 700 brands of fashion and accessories directly from Paris and Milan, has long been a popular store. Many customers come from far away to visit this store.
The long-established Cantonese restaurant "Getsuen Hanten" is a popular place with a constant stream of customers.

A longtime favorite of local customers with a passion for fashion and lifestyle, the shopping center offers a wide range of Okinawa's products essential to daily life as well as quality foreign brand goods. Enjoy a relaxing time in the scent of American mid-century, which is different from the atmosphere of the Gate Street.
