Located halfway up Mt. Hagane at an elevation of about 900 meters, it is designated as a scenic spot by Fukuoka Prefecture. The drop-off is about 24 meters, and as the name suggests, the water flowing like a white thread is very beautiful. In summer, the splashing water is pleasant, and it is a popular spot for relaxation and nature with its abundance of negative ions.
From mid-June to early July, some 5,000 hydrangeas, 100,000 in number, are at their best, and from the end of April to the end of November, visitors can try their hand at Yamame trout fishing, and from the end of April to the end of September, they can enjoy the Somen-nagashi (flowing-noodles). From the bus stop and parking lot, there is a nature trail where you can enjoy a leisurely stroll while listening to the murmuring of the river and the sound of birds and taking pictures.
At the "Fureai-no-sato Shikino-chaya" restaurant, visitors can enjoy a variety of dishes made from Yamame trout. In addition to the standard salted and grilled dishes, visitors can also enjoy deep-fried, nanbanzuke pickled, and other Shiraito specialties.
It is also recommended to visit in winter, when you can experience the view of the snowy landscape while sipping a warm cup of coffee over a wood-burning stove.
