Hoheikyo Onsen

Hoheikyo Onsen is the only hot spring in Sapporo where the spring water is poured directly into the bathtub. This 100% free-flowing hot spring, in which the temperature is not controlled and water is not added, is rare even in Japan, a country with a large number of hot springs. It is popular as a hot spring where one can expect the same efficacy as that of the spring water.

The hot springs of Hoheikyo are loved by many people, especially women, as a hot spring for beautiful skin because of the effects of calcareous sinter and cyanobacteria that make the skin smooth after a soak. It is also called "hot water for wounds," and is popular as a therapeutic hot spring bath.

This hot spring is also famous for having one of the largest open-air baths in Japan. There are three hot springs: Muine no yu, Fukuro no yu, and Yuyu no yu, and the maximum number of bathers can be as many as 200. Visitors can soak in hot water of a comfortable temperature while feeling the unobstructed view of nature. At night, the baths are lit up, creating a fantastic locale. It is a spot where both body and soul can be healed.
