Iwagi Island, connected to Yumeshima Kaido road in March 2022, is called the “Green Lemon Island” for the active citrus cultivation. Mr. and Mrs. Furukawa used to dream of living on an island. Since they were ordering lemons from this island, they moved from Kyoto and opened the “Blue Lemon Farm.”
The cafe is about a 5-minute drive from the farm, which was opened as a farm-owned cafe in July 2022. The wife, Yukiko, is the owner and welcomes visitors with a smile.
The most popular menu item, lemonade (500 yen), is made of more than one lemon from the farm (the take-out with a bigger cup uses more than one and a half!). So the ice won’t dilute the taste, frozen lemonade is added. Since Lemons are completely ripened with high sugar-content, it has only mild tartness. The lemonade is fresh and fruity, very good without sugar added. You can have a second without an extra charge.
They also serve “Ichigo Milk (strawberry milk, 550 yen)” with delicious tart flavor, “Mikan Juice” made of over-wintered ripe tangerines from Ishiji, and flavorful bread, scones and bagels (250 yen each) made of wheat from Hokkaido are everyone’s favorite.
At a farm located five minutes away by car, visitors can experience lemon harvesting from November to April.
