The owner, Mitsuhiro Sunagawa, was trained in a ryotei (traditional Japanese restaurant) in Osaka who cooks the popular delicacy at his guest house. There is an adjoining bar which is frequented by the local fans of his cuisine.
Fish swim around in a big aquarium in the bar. You can taste the super fresh seafood caught by the island’s fishermen and complemented by the fragrant “Blue Lemon,” the specialty of Iwagi Island. The island produces lots of good food such as Lemon Pork, chicken, and vegetables. If you do not like seafood or sashimi (raw fish), talk with the owner ahead of time for a menu change.
Dinners can be enjoyed in your guest room or in the bar reflecting the local Japanese ambience.
There are a total of eight guest rooms in a western style with beds and Japanese style with futons. They are in a modern Japanese design and a bathroom was added to each room in the 2021 renovation. On the top floor, there is a bathtub with lemons floating and filling the room with the citrus scent, which overlooks the sea.
The owner aims for an experience-based guest house and organizes a chartered boat to Tsuba Island, uninhabited but available for swimming and camping. He even prepares BBQ ingredients for you. If you go fishing on his fishing tour boat, Sunagawa fixes sashimi right on the boat.
