Hara Model Railway Museum

The Hara Model Railway Museum keeps a treasured showcase of the Shintaro Hara collection, a world-renowned model railway builder and collector.

Step inside to find 1,500 model trains as far as the eye can see, with some 1,000 on display at any time. Each piece is crafted by Mr. Hara himself, made to recreate railway models from Japan, Europe, and the United States to a T. The models run on iron rails, taking power from overhead wires to better recreate the real-life clatter of moving trains in the world. Highlights to browse include Ichiban Tetsumo Park, one of the largest model train dioramas in the world, stretching over 450 meters with enough detail to peer and peruse for endless tiny thrills.
Note: Ichiban Tetsumo Park is equivalent to the size of a tennis court and is one of the largest indoor dioramas in the world featuring 1-gauge trains.

The collection extends beyond model trains to include rare items such as "first tickets" (the first tickets issued by newly opened railways), actual railway equipment like master controllers, and film footage of now-defunct trains. The museum's offerings appeal to both model railway enthusiasts and general train fans.
