Ogawa no Sho Jomon Oyaki Village
Enjoy piping hot Oyaki, a traditional Shinshu delicacy, freshly grilled over an irori hearth in a charming, old-fashioned house.
Nestled at the foot of the Northern Alps in northern Nagano Prefecture, this unique establishment opened in 1986 after renovating a traditional farmhouse in Ogawa Village. Designed to resemble a Jomon-era pit dwelling, the interior offers an authentic setting to enjoy Oyaki, a beloved local delicacy.
The fillings for these traditional stuffed buns range from stir-fried Nozawana greens, sweet red bean paste, mushrooms, dried daikon radish, and eggplant, to more unique flavors like apple, potato, corn, butterbur miso, and cheese pumpkin. The signature "Jomon Oyaki" is cooked over an irori hearth, giving it a rich, smoky aroma and crispy texture, earning it high praise.
Inside, you can relax at hori-gotatsu seating while sipping soba tea, creating a cozy atmosphere to enjoy freshly grilled Oyaki, handmade soba, and other seasonal dishes.
For a hands-on experience, Oyaki-making workshops are also available. In just 40 minutes, you can craft and enjoy your own freshly made Oyaki.
