Azabu-Juban Noryo Festival
A summer festival boasting one of the largest scales and crowds in Tokyo, with a bustling shopping street filled with events.
The Azabu-Juban shopping street, which has prospered since the Edo period as a town in front of the gate of Zenpuku-ji Temple, is home to many long-established stores such as "Naniwaya Sohonten", famous for its taiyaki (fish-shaped pancake filled with bean jam), and "Nagasaka Sarashina Nunoya Tahee", known for its soba. The "Noryo Festival", which is held in late August every year at the shopping street that boasts a history of about 300 years and lets you feel the atmosphere and vitality unique to downtown, is a summer feature that attracts many tourists not only from the local area.
At the festival, which turns the entire area into a pedestrian paradise, stalls dealing with specialties from all over Japan, as well as long-established and popular stores representing Azabu-Juban centered on the shops in the shopping street, are gathered. You can enjoy the unique menu of the festival at a reasonable price. In addition to the stalls, there are also plenty of booths for children, such as shooting games. There are also events on a special stage, and the shopping street is always bustling from daytime to night when the lanterns are flickering.
