Otaguro Park is established on the former residence of the music critic, Otaguro Motoo (1893-1979). In 1981, the park was made public.

About 30% of the park's land was donated by Mr. Otaguro, who wished for it to be transformed into a public space. Within the park, you'll find a strolling garden developed based on this wish, the "Memorial Hall" built in 1933 (a Western-style building uncommon at the time, now a tangible cultural property, with the second floor usually off-limits to the public), and a traditional tea room designed in the sukiya architectural style, among other attractions.

The park offers spectacular views all year round. During spring, visitors can admire the beauty of the cherry blossoms and in early summer, the hydrangeas. Particularly striking is the row of ginkgo trees, some of which are over 100 years old, as well as other large trees like zelkova and red pine. From late November to early December, over 60 trees showcase their vivid autumn colors, and the park also features evening illuminations. The picturesque reflections of the autumn leaves on the pond, accentuated by the surrounding azumaya (a type of traditional Japanese shelter), create an enchantingly beautiful scenery.
