Aso Cuddly Dominion is the zoo bringing visitors up close and personal with a full cohort of animal friends from around the world at this vast 300,000 square meter property at the foot of Mount Aso. Many know this spot for its hands-on corners and animals shows featuring celebrities like the chimpanzee "Pan-kun", as see on TV.
Swing by for a chance to feed and touch animals like bears, alpacas, goats, capybaras and penguins. Particularly popular is the chance to hold and touch baby bears (cost: 500 yen per group). Other activities include horseback riding and reptile encounters.
No matter when you visit expect two ongoing animal shows, packed with all the smiles of fun interactions between the animals and their trainers. These shows often feature Japanese macaques and dogs with special comedy corners that showcase just how bright and amazing these furry friends are.
