Main Dining Room at Nikko Kanaya Hotel

Founded in 1873, Nikko Kanaya Hotel is the oldest existing resort hotel in Japan, and its restaurant has a rich history. In 2023, the hotel celebrated its 150th anniversary. When the main building was renovated into a three-story structure in 1936, the hotel lobby was transformed into the Main Dining Room. The room retains its classic charm, featuring original column carvings and decorative elements known as "Karyobinga," offering a refined atmosphere where guests can savor the hotel's traditional French cuisine.

The Classic Dinner, which revives dishes served over 120 years ago at Kanaya Hotel, includes iconic items like "Sautéed Nikko Rainbow Trout à la Kanaya" and "Crab Croquettes," consisting of eight courses.

In celebration of the 150th anniversary, the restaurant also offers the Nikko Kanaya Hotel 150th Anniversary Dinner, which incorporates both traditional elements from the 1914 menu and a modern twist, allowing diners to experience both tradition and innovation.

Additionally, guests can enjoy historical dishes like the "Taisho Croquette" and the "Hundred-Year Rice Curry," passed down through generations of chefs. These timeless offerings provide a taste of the hotel’s rich heritage, making for a truly memorable dining experience.
