Manzamo remains one of Okinawa’s most coveted, scenic destinations at its spot along the coast of the East China Sea in Onna Village, a town near the heart of Okinawa Island. The name "Manzamo" comes from the Ryukyu word for "field”, and it is said that in 1726, King Sho Kei of the Ryukyu Kingdom praised the area, saying it was "large enough to seat ten thousand people”.

The 20-meter-high cliff, made of Ryukyu limestone formed from uplifted coral and eroding waves is often said to resemble an elephant’s trunk. The view of the blue sky, cobalt-blue sea, and white waves crashing against the cliff is truly breathtaking. The beauty of the East China Sea changes with the seasons, weather, and time of day, making it a worthwhile sight no matter when you visit. The grassy plateau on top of the cliff is also home to rare plants, earning it recognition as a natural treasure of Okinawa.

In 2020, the "Manzamo Area Revitalization Facility" opened, offering shops, restaurants, restrooms, powder rooms, and viewing decks where you can enjoy panoramic views of both Manzamo and Mount Onna. A small fee is required to access the exhibit room inside.
