Nestled beside the Mizukake Fudoson in the charming Hozenji Yokocho, this sweet shop was founded in 1883 (Meiji 16). The shop’s specialty, "Meoto Zenzai," served in two separate bowls, is a symbol of good fortune for couples, believed to strengthen their bond and bring harmony. It is also said that two people drawn to each other who share this dessert will find their romance fulfilled. Traditionally, each person eats from two bowls.

In 1940, Sakunosuke Oda, a prominent Kansai literary figure, wrote a novel titled "Meoto Zenzai," catapulting the dessert into widespread popularity. It remains a beloved specialty of Hozenji Yokocho.

The zenzai is made from rare Tamba Dainagon adzuki beans, historically presented to the imperial court, and is known for its refined, subtle sweetness. In the summer, the shop offers "Kori Zenzai," a fluffy shaved ice dessert topped with syrup, condensed milk, Tamba Dainagon adzuki beans, and shiratama. It comes in matcha and milk flavors, eagerly awaited by fans each year.
