Kannonzaki Park
A park where you can enjoy both the sea and the mountains' natural beauty.
Spread over the cape of Kannonzaki, projecting into Tokyo Bay, this vast park spans an area of 70.4 hectares. Previously managed by the Japanese military as a sea fortress protecting Tokyo Bay, it was not open to the public, preserving much of its untouched nature.
On the seaside, visitors can enjoy swimming, exploring the rocky shore, and even barbecue on the beach. The mountain side features "Athletic Forest" with various playground equipment and "Umi no Ko Toride" with complex play structures and climbing walls, allowing children to play to their hearts' content using their whole bodies.
Additionally, the park is dotted with attractions like the "Kannonzaki Lighthouse," the first Western-style lighthouse in Japan, and historical gun battery remains. Cultural facilities such as the "Kannonzaki Natural History Museum" and "Yokosuka Museum of Art" also exist, offering various ways to leisurely spend a day according to one's interests. Known as a spot for hydrangeas, the "Flower Plaza" within the park showcases a variety of flowers throughout the seasons, delighting visitors.
