Every year from late April to early May, Kawachi Wisteria Garden blooms across its 3,000 tsubo area (approximately 10,000 square meters) with wisteria flowers.

The garden cultivates 22 varieties of wisteria, creating a vibrant tapestry of colors including white, blue-purple, and pink. The garden features two wisteria tunnels, one measuring 80 meters and the other 110 meters in length, that are always a crowd favorite for unforgettably gorgeous flora.

The history of the wisteria garden starts with founder Masao Higuchi, who decided in 1968 to clear the land with his eldest son and plant beautiful wisteria in the mountain region as a garden for many to enjoy. One wisteria tree, which would have been submerged due to the construction of the Kawachi Reservoir in Kitakyushu City, was relocated and became the "origin tree" of the current wisteria garden. Fifty years after the land was cleared, this "origin tree" has grown into a large wisteria tree over 120 years old, delighting tourists who visit each year.

In addition, from mid-November each year, about 700 maple and Japanese maple trees surrounding the wisteria trellises begin to change color, making it a popular spot for autumn leaves as well. In recent years, the garden has added a reservation-only ticketing system to prevent over-crowding. Be sure to book in advance before swinging by.

    除了藤花景觀外,河內藤園還擁有豐富的生態環境,有許多鳥類和昆蟲棲息其中,在園區內感受到大自然的美好,但可惜人太多。
