Daikanyama Hillside Terrace

A symbolic architectural landmark of Daikanyama, gathering high-end gourmet and fashion stores.

Last update :

Located along Kyu-Yamatedori, this complex facility houses shops, restaurants, galleries, and more across multiple buildings. Even more than 50 years after the completion of its first phase in 1969, its design continues to give a modern impression, serving as a model for surrounding buildings and as a central figure in Daikanyama's urban development.

Designed by the renowned architect Fumihiko Maki, who also worked on Makuhari Messe and Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium, Hillside Terrace consists of eight main buildings (Blocks A to H), two annexes, Hillside Plaza, and Hillside West. In addition to functioning as residential and office spaces, the lower floors of each building are home to fashion boutiques, general stores, hair salons, and more. Plenty of gourmet options exist, including restaurants, cafes, bakeries, and food stores.

In addition to housing a members-only salon, library, and gallery space, Hillside Terrace regularly hosts events such as markets and concerts. It is also a focal point for cultural activities in Daikanyama.
