Takao Sumire-an

Just a 3-minute walk from Keio Line's Takaosanguchi Station, and located in front of the Kiyotaki Station cable car at the base of Mt. Takao, Takao Sumire-an is the famed local spot for tasty inari sushi and somen noodles. The shop is named after the violet flowers (sumire) that grow on Mt. Takao, complete with a theme that mirrors the same violet color. Hop up to the second floor to find dine-in space where you can enjoy your meal while taking in the lush greenery of Mt. Takao.

The signature dish here is the inari sushi, available in two varieties: "Tengu Inari" with soybeans and "Sumire Inari" with mountain vegetables. Both types are small, easy to eat, and absolutely delicious. You can also opt for takeout, making it a perfect snack to enjoy at the summit of your hike.

In addition to meals, they offer a violet-colored, refreshing "Sumire Soda" and "Soto-yaki," a roasted rice cake filled with sweet bean paste. The Soto-yaki heated to order so you know you’re in for a warm, aromatic treat that’s perfect to top off a hike.
