Perched atop Mount Hiei at an elevation of 840 meters, Garden Museum Hiei is a stunning garden museum inspired by the masterpieces of French Impressionist painters. Visitors can enjoy breathtaking views of Lake Biwa and Otsu City from the garden.

The 1.7-hectare garden is divided into six themed areas, featuring 100,000 plants of 1,500 different species of seasonal flowers. Highlights include the "Fragrance Garden," inspired by the hills of Provence, the "Water Lily Garden," modeled after Monet's famous works, and the "Rose Garden," where various types of roses bloom from mid-June to October.

The garden also features 45 life-sized ceramic reproductions of masterpieces by Impressionist artists such as Monet, Renoir, Cezanne, and Van Gogh. This unique setup allows visitors to appreciate both the beauty of the garden and the art simultaneously.
