Kanagawa Prefectural Sagamihara Park
A vast park surrounded by water and greenery, where visitors can enjoy seasonal flowers throughout the year.
Located within a vast 260,000㎡ area, Kanagawa Prefectural Sagamihara Park is a comprehensive park where visitors can enjoy seasonal flowers and greenery throughout the year. The park features diverse areas, such as "Minazuki-en," where around 20,000 irises of about 120 varieties bloom in June, and the "Fountain Square," which boasts an elegant French-style garden surrounded by towering metasequoia trees.
A prominent symbol of the park is the "Sakata Seed Greenhouse," one of the largest in the prefecture. Inside the greenhouse, visitors can explore a tropical garden filled with vibrant flowers like bougainvillea and hibiscus, as well as a cactus garden displaying various succulent plants. In addition to these paid areas, the greenhouse also offers the Green Theater, which screens nature-themed videos, and an observation room overlooking the fountain square.
The expansive 27,000㎡ lawn area is a popular spot for family picnics on weekends. Other attractions include the "Komorebi no Michi," a popular bird-watching trail, and the "Seseragi-no-en" area, where visitors can enjoy playing in the water. The park offers something for all ages.
