Ryuhyo Glass Museum

Located right by the Sea of Okhotsk, the Ryuhyo Glass Museum is housed in a renovated former surimi factory, now dedicated to the creation and sale of glass products.

As you step inside, you'll be greeted by a wide array of glassware. From everyday items like plates, vases, and glasses to accessories inspired by drifting ice and whimsical animal-themed ornaments, the store offers pieces that add a touch of elegance to any lifestyle. Each item showcases the delicate craftsmanship of skilled artisans, making them worth a closer look.

What sets the Ryuhyo Glass Museum apart is not just the beauty of its products but also its commitment to eco-friendly practices. The glassware is made from "Eco Pirika," a material recycled from used fluorescent lights, reflecting the store’s dedication to sustainable manufacturing. The name "Eco Pirika" combines "eco" with the Ainu word "pirika," meaning "correct" or "beautiful."

The museum also offers glassmaking experiences (reservations required), allowing visitors to try their hand at creating their own glass pieces. Additionally, there's a cozy café where you can relax and watch the glassmaking process unfold in the adjacent workshop.
