Founded in 1910 (Meiji 43), Tengu Natto Co., Ltd. boasts over 110 years of history, and it remains a treasured specialty of Mito. The company was established by the second son of Seizaemon Sasanuma, the founder of "Tengu Natto," who is credited with laying the foundation for Mito's iconic natto. Today, the 4th generation continues to preserve the traditional taste that has been handed down through the years.

Their product lineup includes the classic "Waradate Natto," which offers a satisfying chew with its traditional straw-wrapped presentation, the convenient "Pack Natto," the flavorful "Soboro Natto" mixed with dried radish, and the umami-packed "Hoshi Natto" (dried natto). The beans come in various sizes, from the standard tiny beans that Mito Natto is famous for, to small, large, and even black beans. The natto can be enjoyed in various ways, such as over rice, as a standalone snack, or even with ochazuke (tea over rice).

Since natto's quality is significantly influenced by temperature and humidity, the artisans produce it entirely by hand. Using carefully selected soybeans, they craft a Mito specialty known for its strong stickiness, rich umami, roasted aroma, and perfect texture. It's a must-try for those seeking an authentic taste of Mito’s culinary tradition.
