HOKUTEN NO OKA Lake Abashiri Tsuruga Resort is a unique resort hotel near Lake Abashiri that immerses guests in the rich culture of the northern peoples who once lived along the Okhotsk coast. The hotel’s design is inspired by the lifestyle of people from the 5th to 9th centuries, offering a blend of history and luxury.

The main lounge, designed to resemble a pit dwelling, features a central fireplace surrounded by wooden carvings of Steller’s sea eagles and whales, along with decorations modeled after artifacts of northern peoples. The ambiance feels almost like a museum, creating an elevated travel experience in a tranquil, sophisticated space.

With 10 room types and 85 guest rooms, the hotel caters to various needs, including rooms with private gardens and outdoor baths, as well as pet-friendly accommodations. The rooms feature designs inspired by Okhotsk culture with a calm and relaxing atmosphere, ensuring a peaceful stay. Additionally, there are six private villas on the property.

The restaurant offers a variety of dishes made from fresh seafood from the Okhotsk Sea and locally sourced ingredients. Guests can enjoy a diverse selection of approximately 70 buffet dishes, as well as creative French and Japanese cuisine.

The large bathhouse, Hokuten Zabo no Yu, provides stunning views of the surrounding nature, with outdoor baths where guests can unwind in the natural hot springs. The resort also features a complimentary ganbanyoku (hot stone bath), and outside the hotel’s entrance stands the Fire Tower, designed to resemble the tent dwellings of northern peoples. In the evening, fires are lit, creating a magical atmosphere where visitors can relax with a footbath under the glow of the flames.
