Keio Mogusaen
A garden in Tokyo that encapsulates the essence of Japanese beauty.
Keio Mogusaen is a Tokyo garden where visitors can enjoy seasonal blooms and foliage year-round. Loved since the Edo period, this expansive 26,000㎡ garden features traditional Japanese elements like thatched-roof buildings, bamboo fences, and tea huts, embodying the essence of Japanese beauty.
The garden is particularly popular during the plum blossom and autumn foliage seasons. From February to March, the "Plum Festival" showcases around 500 plum trees of approximately 50 varieties, including rare strains like Omoinomama and Tsukikage. Seasonal sweets, such as jelly, jam, and roasted sweet potatoes made with garden-harvested plums, are also available for purchase.
From November to early December, the "Autumn Foliage Festival" captivates visitors with vibrant red and yellow landscapes, family-friendly events, and enchanting night illuminations, offering a magical experience that contrasts with the garden's daytime beauty.
On clear days, visitors can enjoy stunning views of Tokyo Tower, Tokyo Skytree, and even Mt. Fuji from a 140-meter-high observation deck within the garden. Although reaching this spot involves a steep uphill path, the panoramic scenery is well worth the climb.
