Minakami Kogen Ski Resort
Powdered snow and jaw-dropping views at this Kanto region ski resort.
Minakami Kogen Ski Resort boasts an expansive area of about 2 million tsubo (approximately 6.6 million square meters), complete with 12 courses designed for anyone from novice to expert skiers. Hugged by Japanese larch trees, the resort buzzes with an undeniable romance.
Perched at an elevation of 1,248 meters, the resort's highest point opens to a full panorama of the Tanigawa Range, Oze, and Mount Asama. For advanced skiers, the Kumabokkosu Course boasts ungroomed snow with natural moguls and powder. Other attractions include Forest Exploration, a course that bends and bucks through larch and birch trees, and Kids Slalom, where children can enjoy playful turns using balls as markers. For the novice skier, take it easy over at the Okkirikomi Course and the Suisui Family Course. For families with young children, the Kindergarten and Snow Palette kids' parks are more than ideal.
Unique to Honshu, the resort also offers a variety of snow activities, including dog sledding, snow rafting, and zipfy sledding. On-site accommodations are available at Minakami Kogen Hotel 200, a stay complete with hot springs for both overnight guests and day visitors.
