Yushien Garden

Located on Daikon Island in Nakaumi, Shimane Prefecture, Yushien is a stunning circuit-style Japanese garden and coveted spot to catch peonies and Korean ginseng cultivation. Spanning approximately 40,000 square meters, the garden features landscapes inspired by the Izumo region, including an artificial hill resembling Mount Daisen and a waterfall reminiscent of the famous scenic spot Oni no Shitaburui. Lose yourself on a scenic stroll through nature that beams all year around.

One of the most spectacular sights is the "Pond Peony" display, held from late April to early May, complete with an other-worldly frame of 30,000 peonies in shades of red, pink, and white dredged across the pond. In summer, a cool mist gives a refreshing air while autumn brings brilliant red and yellow foliage transforms the landscape. In winter, 1.3 million LED lights illuminate the garden, offering a magical nighttime spectacle.

For diehard fans, there’s even a Japanese Peony House in the garden where peonies bloom year-round. Treat yourself to a taste of local cuisine at the soba restaurant, which serves Izumo soba made from locally sourced buckwheat flour. Over at the tea house you’ll find a menu of sweets infused with matcha and Korean ginseng, allowing guests to enjoy a relaxing café experience while admiring the breathtaking scenery.
