Nestled in Arashiyama, one of Kyoto’s most scenic and beloved tourist destinations, Kyoto Kitcho Arashiyama Main Store is a world-renowned ryotei (traditional Japanese restaurant), located along the path from Togetsukyo Bridge to Tenryu-ji Temple.

Now led by third-generation Executive Chef Kunio Tokuoka, grandson of founder Teiichi Yuki, the restaurant continues its legacy of excellence. The cuisine is rooted in traditional cha-kaiseki, the formal tea ceremony meal, while incorporating modern elements to create an elegant and refined dining experience.
Guests can also enjoy a private boat cruise on the Oi River, which flows in front of the restaurant, offering a serene prelude to the meal. During summer, this experience includes a viewing of traditional cormorant fishing (ukai), making for a truly immersive Kyoto experience.

The restaurant features six tatami rooms, each offering breathtaking views of meticulously landscaped gardens. On the first floor, guests can dine with a borrowed landscape of Arashiyama’s natural beauty, while the second floor provides stunning seasonal views of cherry blossoms and autumn foliage.
A highlight of the restaurant is the "Taikotei" Grand Hall, which underwent extensive renovations between 2022 and 2023. The restored shoin-style architecture and newly commissioned ceiling paintings enhance the timeless elegance of the space, making it a must-see for lovers of traditional Japanese aesthetics.
