Shinnoboribetsu Ohashi Bridge

Spanning the Noboribetsu River Gorge in Noboribetsu, Hokkaido, this vivid vermilion arch bridge stretches approximately 240 meters in length. Built with an "inverted Lohse" arch design, the bridge's elegant curve is visible from afar, and it soars roughly 120 meters above the river below.

The dynamic contrast between the arch’s red hue and the surrounding natural scenery is breathtaking in every season. In autumn, the gorge is set ablaze with vibrant shades of red from urushi (lacquer) and maple trees. Summer brings lush greenery, while winter blankets the landscape in snow, offering a peaceful, serene view.
On the west side of the bridge, there’s an observation deck that provides a full panoramic view of the bridge itself. On clear days, you can even catch a glimpse of the Pacific Ocean in the distance to the southeast.
