Originally built in the late 15th century under the order of Suruga’s feudal lord, the Imagawa clan, Kakegawa Castle was constructed by the Asahina clan as part of Imagawa’s expansion into the Totomi region. In 1590, Yamauchi Katsutoyo, who was appointed as the castle lord, carried out a major renovation, reconstructing the castle tower, the main gate, and developing the surrounding castle town.
One of the castle’s most significant structures is the Ninomaru Palace, built during the late Edo period. It stands as one of only four remaining palace-style structures in Japan and has been designated a National Important Cultural Property. Plan a visit inside to catch a glimpse of Edo-era feudal governance and the daily life of daimyo lords.
Around the castle, approximately 300 early-blooming Kakegawa cherry trees create a breathtaking spring landscape, where the majestic castle and delicate cherry blossoms blend in perfect harmony.

    周圍環境也整理得很美,春天來時有櫻花相伴,氣氛非常浪漫。加上旁邊就是二之丸美術館和御殿,可以順道一遊,安排個半天剛剛好~
