Nankai Electric Railway Kada Sakana Line (Kada Line) “Medetai Train”

A sightseeing train themed around Kada’s famed sea bream, with five unique “fish” swimming along the rails!

Last update :

“Medetai Train” travels the Nankai Electric Railway Kada Line, nicknamed the “Kada Sakana Line.” Built around the concept that “Kada’s prized sea bream now swims along the rails,” it’s a two-car sightseeing train. The name expresses its intent to be “a train that simply riding makes you feel fortunate (medetai)” and “a train that’s so charming you’ll want to keep riding it.”

Since the appearance of “Sachi,” the mother, in April 2016, the father “Kai,” child “Nana,” and Sachi’s elder brother “Kashira” joined the family, and in July 2024, a distant ancestor named “Kanata” came on board. With these five “fish” (train sets), the line now runs between Wakayama City Station and Kada Station.

Each set features different concepts, stories, colors, and designs, ranging from delightfully endearing elements that make you smile to displays that teach you about the natural environment and marine life. The train schedules for each set are published on Nankai Electric Railway’s website, so check in advance to experience this “medetai” (happy) and “admirable” train ride.
