Ayumu Imai is an editor at Chikyu no Arukikata (Globe-Trotter Travel Guide), a renowned publisher of travel guidebooks. After working on student travel programs and overseas volunteer tours, he transitioned into the editorial department. In 2014, driven by his deep passion for temples, shrines, goshuin, and power spots, he produced the guidebook Visiting Shrines Across Japan with Goshuin. Following its success, he went on to develop additional volumes, including Kanto Region Shrines, Tokyo Shrines, and Kyushu Shrines. The Goshuin Series now spans 54 titles and has sold over 700,000 copies, becoming one of the publisher’s most popular offerings.
Imai's fascination with charms and mythology began in childhood. A profound experience during a visit to Takachiho, Miyazaki, further deepened his passion for exploring temples and shrines. Since then, he has become an avid collector of goshuin from the places he visits. In his free time, Imai enjoys exploring sacred sites across Japan and traveling abroad to discover spiritual power spots around the world.
