I loved the Edo-style architecture of the interior and exterior of the buildings. A lovely historical city with a peaceful and stylish ambience.
古い町並みを今に残す、奈良県橿原市今井町。1532～1555年頃から寺を中心に形成、武家勢力との衝突がありながらも、1575年には織田信長から朱印状を付与され、赦免されました。江戸時代（1603～1868年）には物資運搬の要所であったことや、商業都市として発展したことで、江戸幕府（政府）から独自の紙幣の流通を許可されるなど、当時最先端といわれた大阪・堺と並ぶ一大商業都市として発展しました。

明治36（1903）年に建てられた今井まちなみ文化センターは、天井や窓など細部に至るまでこだわりが感じられる和洋折衷の建築が特徴的。

明治初期（1877年）の今井町を再現した模型で当時の様子を知ることができます。

重厚な造りの家々が並ぶ町並みは、侍たちが活躍する時代劇の撮影に使われることもあるそう。

町で最も古い歴史を持つ今西家住宅など町家の見学も可能（有料の施設もあり）。

杉桶を使用した伝統的な製法を守り続ける恒岡醤油醸造本店。

今井町で唯一の造り酒屋・河合酒造では、すっきりした呑み口の「出世男」が試飲できます。

Imai town is an Edo era historical site of residence streets. It feels like strolling back in time. Some of the residences are open to the public with a reservation, but walking around learning the history with a local guide makes a memorable experience.
