The 12th largest lake in Japan, the 3rd in depth, it is designated as Japan's Area of Special Scenic Beauty and a natural monument along with the Oirase Gorge stemming from the lake.

You can have lots of activities at Lake Towada from spring to summer. Get on the sightseeing boat to view nature from the lake water, or enjoy canoeing, boat tour and many more.

Around Yasumiya, located at southern Lake Towada, the boarding point for sightseing boats, inns, restaurants and souvenir stores cluster. It has the “Maiden Statue,” a bronze sculpture by Kotaro Takamura, which is used as the base for touring the Lake Towada by many visitors. If you want to canoe, hike on Mt.
