Hanamaki 12 Hot Springs
Unique 12 onsens dotting Hanamaki Hot Spring Resort, the largest onsen area in the Tohoku Region.
In the western Hanamaki City of Iwate, Dai River and Toyosawa River run between peaceful mountains, where hot springs of Hanamaki Onsen Resort dot the area. Since there are 12 hot springs, such as Hanamaki Onsen, Dai Onsen and Osawa Onsen, they are called the Hanamaki 12 Hot Springs. Each of them has a long history, found nearly 300 to 400 years ago.
Therapeutic hot spring inns in the traditional part of town, resort hotels for families and couples, private Japanese-style lodgings with its own hot spring tub, and other variety allow you to pick what you want according to the purpose of your trip. You can also select an inn for the quality of spring water.
Hanamaki is about 2 hours and 40 minutes on the Tohoku Shinkansen from Tokyo. From Shin-Hanamaki Station or Hanamaki Station, there is a free shuttle bus service for guests staying at an inn.
